Jada Pinkett Smith and Willow Smith, driven by their shared interest in Indian spiritual practices, are currently in India, expressing a deep connection to Eastern traditions, particularly Hinduism. They recently observed the Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti at a retreat center in an Indian state, celebrating without the presence of other members of the Smith family.

Following her visit to the Govardhan Eco Village, Willow Smith shared moments with the teachers of the community center and traditional objects used in spiritual activities on her Instagram stories. Her mother had already posted a picture of them visiting the center feeding impoverished kids, which was a regular occurrence.

The village focuses on personal transformation through activities like Yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, and community service, with Will Smith and Jaden Smith not joining the trip. Jada Pinkett Smith and Willow Smith, however, are enjoying these activities together and have frequently shared insights from the philosophies taught by the tradition they are exploring.

Three years ago, Willow Smith expressed her deep commitment to these traditions influenced by her mother by working with another artist to create seven devotional songs devoted to Hindu deities and meditation. She had been reading her mother’s scriptures since she was a little child, which captured the ideas of these Gods and Goddesses.

The teachings from her mother resurfaced in Willow Smith’s later years, inspiring the ‘Whip My Hair’ singer to create melodies that uplift and benefit souls. Over time, her fascination with these philosophies seems to have grown, as evident in her frequent social media shares quoting scholars and practitioners of Hinduism.
