Harry Potter actor Michael Gambon has died aged 82
Michael Gambon, a renowned actor best known for playing Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight “Harry Potter” movies, passed suddenly on Thursday at the age of 82, according to his publicist.
According to a statement issued by his family via the publicist, he passed away as a result of complications following a case of pneumonia.
“We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside,”
Born on October 19, 1940, in Ireland and raised in London, Michael Gambon first pursued a career in engineering because he was motivated by his father’s example. His main vocation, nevertheless, was in the world of performing.

He began his theatrical career there in Dublin by acting in “Othello.” He was given a significant part in “Hamlet,” the National Theatre Company’s first performance, which was directed by the illustrious Laurence Olivier, in 1963.
After receiving plaudits for his performance in John Dexter’s “Life of Galileo,” Gambon quickly gained notoriety as a renowned theater performer.
His extraordinary abilities led to numerous nominations for honors, including two Critics’ Circle Theatre honors and three Laurence Olivier Awards. He received four prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for his diverse body of work.
Dennis Potter’s 1986 BBC drama “The Singing Detective,” recognized as a classic piece of British television drama, propelled him to widespread fame in the United Kingdom. Gambon cemented his reputation as an acting legend by winning the BAFTA for Best Actor for his outstanding performance.
He wed Anne Miller, with whom he welcomed their son, Fergus. Subsequently, he expanded his family with set designer Philippa Hart, welcoming two more sons into their lives.
