Gospel Music Community Mourns as 3 Members of The Nelons Killed in Plane Crash

A devastating plane crash on Friday claimed the lives of Kelly Nelon, Jason Clark, Amber Nelon Kistler, Nathan Kistler, Melodi Hodges, Larry Haynie, and Melissa Haynie, while Autumn Nelon Streetman and her husband Jamie Streetman were the sole survivors, traveling separately at the time of the tragic accident.

Autumn Nelon Streetman, the youngest daughter and surviving member, announced the heartbreaking news on Saturday morning through a joint statement with her management team. She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and asked for continued prayer and support during this difficult time.

The Nelons, founded by Rex Nelon in the late 1970s, have been a staple in the gospel music industry for decades. Kelly Nelon took the reins after her father’s departure in 1999, leading the group alongside her husband, Jason Clark, who joined in 1997. Amber and Autumn Nelon joined the family band in 2002 and 2014, respectively.

Throughout their illustrious career, The Nelons have received multiple Grammy nominations and were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2016.

The National Transportation Safety Board has commenced its probe into the fatal crash, seeking answers amidst the tragedy. As the community grapples with the loss, an outpouring of support and condolences continues to surround Autumn Nelon Streetman and her loved ones.
