‘GMA’ Star Michael Strahan’s Daughter, 19, Diagnosed With Rare Brain Cancer
Good Morning America anchor Michael Strahan revealed that his 19-year-old daughter, Isabella, has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer. Strahan, who spoke about his daughter’s health in a joint interview with fellow GMA anchor Robin Roberts, expressed his shock at learning about Isabella’s brain tumor and cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2023.
Initially attributing her symptoms to vertigo, Isabella recounted experiencing headaches, nausea, and difficulty walking straight, with noticeable changes starting around September or October.
Following an MRI, doctors discovered a sizable tumor in Isabella’s brain, prompting emergency surgery to remove it. Subsequently, she underwent a six-week course of radiation and is set to begin chemotherapy next month. Despite the challenges, Isabella shared in a GMA interview that she feels okay and is optimistic about completing her treatment, emphasizing the importance of taking things one day at a time.

Medulloblastoma, the type of brain cancer Isabella is facing, originates in the cerebellum a critical area responsible for muscle coordination and balance. Statistics from the Cleveland Clinic indicate that Isabella is among the 350 to 500 individuals diagnosed with medulloblastoma in the United States annually, with a higher prevalence in young children.
Although medulloblastoma is considered rare, it stands as the most common malignant brain tumor affecting children, according to information from both the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic.
