Full update on Jonathan Majors’ Domestic Violence trial today
Nearly half a year has passed since Jonathan Majors was initially arrested in New York City on charges related to domestic violence. However, the start of the trial for the Creed III actor has once again been postponed.
During a brief hearing held on Wednesday, it was decided that a new hearing would convene on September 15 to establish a fresh trial date – at least in theory.
Despite multiple delays, today was originally slated to mark the commencement of the actor’s trial for misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident in and around his Chelsea apartment on March 25.
It’s worth noting that Majors was the one who dialed 911 during the spring incident. Nonetheless, if he is ultimately found guilty of the allegations put forth by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, led by Alvin Bragg, the Kang the Conquer actor could face up to a year behind bars.
With a keen focus on the matter at hand, Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway informed Judge Rachel S. Pauley this morning that the prosecution was fully prepared for trial. However, defense attorneys raised concerns in court, citing “deficiencies” in the discovery process that still required attention.
In contrast to the previous hearing held on August 3, during which Harlem actress Meagan Good was physically present alongside Jonathan Majors in the 100 Centre Street courtroom, the 33-year-old actor made a virtual appearance today before Judge Rachel S.

Pauley in a lower Manhattan hearing. Majors offered minimal commentary, responding briefly to the judge’s inquiries regarding his understanding of the proceedings. In the courtroom to represent the defense were Majors’ lawyers, Priya Chaudhry and Seth Zuckerman, along with the Assistant District Attorney representing the prosecution.
Interestingly, just last month, it was Assistant D.A. Galaway who informed another judge that “the people are not ready for trial today.” With the matter now postponed once more, Galaway emphasized the necessity for additional time to address further discovery issues.
Under the guidance of their New York City-based attorney, Chaudhry, Majors’ defense team has consistently asserted the actor’s “complete innocence” while characterizing his situation as a “witch hunt” fueled by the “racial bias embedded within the criminal justice system.”
Despite repeated attempts to shift the spotlight onto the character and motives of the 30-year-old woman who was present in Majors’ apartment on March 25, the NYPD officers on the scene that night reported that the actor’s former girlfriend had suffered “minor injuries to her head and neck” during the incident.
Despite various declarations and assertions made by Chaudhry’s office in the ensuing months, as well as leaked video footage of the woman socializing that weekend, the said ex-girlfriend has not been arrested by the police.
