Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently criticized MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, for her significant charitable donations. On X (formerly Twitter), users were curious about the recipients of Scott’s donations. One user noted that she primarily supported organizations focused on race and gender issues. In response, Musk slammed Scott, describing her as a wealthy ex-wife harboring animosity toward her former spouse and implying that this attitude contributed to societal decline.

Scott and Bezos ended their 25-year marriage in 2019, with Bezos agreeing to transfer $38 billion worth of Amazon shares to Scott as part of their divorce settlement. Since then, Scott has garnered attention for her philanthropic endeavors, having donated close to $16 billion to more than 1,900 organizations.

In May 2022, Musk announced his intention to vote for the Republican Party, citing his belief that the Democratic Party had neglected Tesla and SpaceX. He attributed this neglect to Scott’s support of political action committees (PACs) masquerading as charitable organizations. Musk expressed on X his perception of Scott’s disdain for her ex-husband and lamented the collateral damage affecting others amid their personal conflict.

Musk strongly opposes diversity, equality, and inclusion efforts, calling them morally wrong and even supporting others who argue they could lead to racism against white people. He criticized DEI as another form of racism in response to an article by billionaire Bill Ackman. Meanwhile, Scott made significant donations, including $50 million to Simmons University in 2020 and approximately $2 billion to 343 organizations supporting underserved communities in 2022. She also donated $275 million to Planned Parenthood, receiving praise.

In contrast, Musk donated $5.7 billion in Tesla shares to the Musk Foundation in 2021, focusing on various projects such as space exploration and energy conservation. According to Bloomberg, the foundation gave $160 million to NGOs in 2021, with $55 million dedicated to various causes.
