Ed Sheeran calls Lewis Capaldi out for a boxing fight
Lewis Capaldi has been invited to a boxing match by Ed Sheeran. The singer of “Shape of You” showed up at Katie Taylor’s super-lightweight match against Chantelle Cameron without warning.
Ed Sheeran and Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing had a fantastic view at the 3Arena. Sheeran, who had earlier made jokes about fighting his father, showed interest in fighting Lewis Capaldi following Katie Taylor’s majority decision victory. Frank Smith of Matchroom Boxing lightheartedly endorsed the notion.
With a smiling nod, Sheeran declared, “I’m up for it,” and playfully challenged Scotland’s Capaldi with a joking, expletive-filled call-out: “Lewis, I’ll take you on, mate.”
He said: “Lewis, I’ll f***ing have you, c**t.

Boxing fans shared their thoughts quickly, with one suggesting, “Capaldi would probably win.” Another person envisioned, “Imagine Ed Sheeran entering the ring with ‘I’m in love with the shape of you’ playing.”
Someone predicted, “That match would fill Croke Park.” Another fan added, “Ed, don’t underestimate a dad’s strength; he might beat you!” Despite this, Sheeran, whose grandfather was a boxer, attended his first live boxing event during the recent Dublin match between Taylor and Cameron.
In 2021, Sheeran hoped to experience his first boxing match with the anticipated Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury heavyweight title fight, aiming for a British champion and unified belts. However, with Fury-Usyk in February, he’s uncertain if that plan will materialize.
