Ed Sheeran breaks BC Place attendance record
English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran achieved an extraordinary milestone in Vancouver last Saturday, drawing an astounding crowd of over 65,000 fervent fans to his concert. This remarkable turnout not only electrified the venue but also etched his name into history, shattering the previous attendance record at BC Place.
The previous record, established in 2009 by the iconic Irish rock band U2, stood at a formidable 63,802 attendees. Sheeran, however, eclipsed this milestone by a remarkable margin of 1,259, setting a new unparalleled record with a staggering 65,061 people in attendance.

Even music legends like Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, and Elton John, who graced BC Place with their performances in 2015, 2019, and 2022 respectively, couldn’t quite reach the incredible attendance figures Sheeran achieved.
In a statement, General Manager Chris May expressed his profound appreciation for this momentous achievement, particularly as it occurred during the stadium’s 40th anniversary year. He described it as “humbling and inspiring,” underscoring the magnitude of Ed Sheeran’s impact on the world of music and live performances.
“Congratulations to Ed Sheeran on his remarkable achievement, “The energy and excitement radiating from the crowd were nothing short of electric It’s our mission at the stadium to bring people together for unforgettable moments, and on this particular occasion, over 65,000 individuals came together to etch their mark in BC Place history.”
