Celine Dion’s sister gives fresh update on star’s health
Claudette, sister of renowned singer Celine Dion, has shared insights into the artist’s health status, highlighting her resilience and proactive efforts toward recovery.
The 55-year-old vocalist, famous for her chart-topping tracks including “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, has been grappling with an untreatable neurological ailment known as stiff person syndrome.
This condition triggers uncontrollable muscle spasms and is an exceedingly rare disorder affecting only one in a million individuals. Claudette, aged 74, recently spoke in an interview about the family’s limited capacity to alleviate Celine’s distress caused by this condition. Despite the challenges, Claudette emphasized Celine’s fortitude in managing the situation.

Celine Dion, with her dedicated and passionate fan base, was diagnosed with this condition in December of the previous year, which led to the unfortunate cancellation of her global tour. Although a complete cure remains elusive, there are available therapies that can slow down the progression of the disorder.
In an exclusive conversation with Hello! Canada, Claudette candidly discussed the symptoms associated with the ailment. She said: “It’s an illness we know so little about. There are spasms – they’re impossible to control. There’s little we can do to support her, to alleviate her pain. We’re crossing our fingers that researchers will find a remedy for this awful illness.”
