Celine Dion, who turned 57 on March 30, recently shared her health journey with Vogue France. She revealed that her life changed after she first noticed symptoms in 2008 during her Taking Chances world tour.
She explained that she had trouble controlling her voice. She could still reach high notes, but her voice would shake with spasms. Concerned, she went to see a doctor. However, the doctor told her that her voice sounded fine. Reassured by this, she returned to her $1.2 million home in Las Vegas. She then continued performing and completed five more tours.
“I was struggling to control it. I was able to go very high, but then my voice was wracked with kind of spasms. I did what one is meant to do in these days: I went to see a doctor.”
Over time, her condition worsened. She began to experience muscle stiffness, which made it difficult to move. She admitted, “I was struggling to move. I had to lean on something to be able to walk.” Despite these challenges, she kept pushing forward and did not take a break.
It was not until the COVID-19 pandemic that she finally stopped and listened to her body. She saw this as a sign from the universe to focus on her health. “I told myself the universe had sent me a sign with COVID. I needed to make the most of this time of rest to discover what was going on,” she shared.
