In the midst of an altercation between pop icon Britney Spears and NBA star Victor Wembanyama and his security, Spears has taken to social media to present her perspective on the incident.

On the 5th of July, a confrontation unfolded between the renowned singer of “Oops!… I Did It Again” and the 19-year-old San Antonio Spurs athlete outside a restaurant in Las Vegas.

Wembanyama asserted to the media that he was “grabbed from behind” by Spears. However, the songstress has now issued her own statement refuting his allegations and accusing Wembanyama’s security team of assaulting her.

During an interview with journalists, the NBA star shared that he had heard someone “calling him” but had previously conversed with his security personnel, who advised him to continue walking and not halt in case a crowd formed.

The young athlete elaborated, stating,”That person grabbed me from behind. I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight […] but that person grabbed me from behind, not by my shoulders, she grabbed me from behind.

“So I just know that the security pushed her away. I don’t know with how much force though. But security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look; I kept walking and enjoyed a nice dinner.”

It wasn’t until the NBA star returned to the hotel that he realized the person involved in the incident was Britney Spears.

In response to Wembanyama’s version of events, Spears has utilized social media to address the situation, refuting the claim that she “grabbed him from behind” and asserting that she simply “tapped him on the shoulder” instead.

Britney Spears Responds

The statement from the acclaimed artist, shared on both Instagram and Twitter, states: “Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night.

“I recognised an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.”

Spears acknowledged her awareness of Wembanyama’s statement but firmly maintains her account that she merely “tapped him on the shoulder.” Furthermore, the singer proceeds to make serious allegations against the NBA star’s security,

claiming that they “backhanded” her “in the face without looking back” while she was in the presence of a crowd. She goes on to state that the force of the blow nearly caused her to stumble and sent her glasses flying off her face.
