Beyoncé’s sister, Solange Knowles, has revealed she is battling multiple autoimmune conditions, including postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
The 38-year-old shared her experience in a heartfelt comment on friend, musician Shaun Ross’s Instagram video, where she discussed her own battle with POTS due to long COVID.
“Sending u so much love and strength Shaun and to all in the comments struggling with the debilitating, confusing, and lonely symptoms of POTS!” Solange wrote.
Solange revealed she was diagnosed with POTS, Sjogrens, and MCAS in 2018, adding, “I really relate to not wanting your health to be your identity.”
She thanked Dysautonomia International, a non-profit organization supporting those with autonomic nervous system disorders, and the “spoonie community” for their support.
“The good folks at @dysautonomiaintl were really an incredible resource for me… I feel really grateful for the spoonie community for holding me down during my times of complete uncertainty!” Solange said.
Ross, who’s known Solange since his teenage years, replied, “Thank you so much Solange… You’ve known me since I was a teen and how energetic I can be. This definitely changed my entire outlook on so much… I appreciate you so much. Sending love.”
In his video, Ross discussed his POTS diagnosis and long COVID journey, saying, “I’ve put off making this video for some time, but I wanted to share it in the hope that it might help someone else going through a similar situation.”
