Bobbie Jean Carter, the sister of Nick and Aaron Carter, passed away. Their mother, Jane Carter, confirmed the news and expressed shock as well as the need for some private time to grieve.

“I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time. When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private.”

“[H]owever deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater. So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight year old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother.”

Although the circumstances of Bobbie’s passing are still unknown, she died early on Saturday in Florida. Known by her stage name BJ, she was involved in the family music industry during the height of her brothers’ success.

Specifically, she worked for Aaron in the early 2000s as a makeup artist and wardrobe stylist. She made eight appearances on the reality TV series “House of Carters,” which followed the family. In spite of her past battles with substance abuse, addiction, and legal troubles, Bobbie Jean has avoided the spotlight in recent years and led a relatively private life.

The family has experienced other tragedies recently, such as the drowning death of Aaron last year from drug use and the overdose death of Leslie in 2012. BJ’s passing adds to these losses. There are still half-siblings and step-siblings in the Carter family, but Nick and Angel are the only surviving Carter siblings. Bella, Bobbie Jean’s young daughter, is her surviving child.
