Sometimes people just need something to gossip about. You know, the kind of stuff that’ll grab attention, stir the pot, and make waves. And let us tell you, Candace Owens’ recent rant is just the latest piece of the gossip mill that’s buzzing on full throttle.
Let’s be honest, folks, we’ve all heard some outlandish rumors in our time, but the latest one to come from far-right commentator Candace Owens has surely hit the ‘top of the charts’. She has been no stranger to controversial views and recently suggested that France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, could be hiding a big secret.

According to Owens, Brigitte Macron is transgender, and, to her, it’s a scandal of historic proportions. To give credit where it’s due, Owens does have a flair for dramatic storytelling. This time, though, it’s taken the stage of her podcast, and boy, is it getting loud. The question is: why?
The mystery of Brigitte Macron’s gender: Fact or fiction?

For those of us who like our gossip seasoned with a little bit of fact, it’s hard to stomach the fact that this ‘theory’ has been floating around like a bad piece of candy stuck in the bottom of your purse. For years now, ever since Emmanuel Macron’s rise to the presidency, rumors about his wife Brigitte Macron’s alleged mysterious past have circled like a bad storm cloud.
It all began with a video by two Frenchwomen, Amandine Roy, and Natacha Rey, who bizarrely claimed that Brigitte Macron was actually her brother, Jean-Michel Trogneux, allegedly transitioning to become her.
But that didn’t stop the rumor mill from running on overdrive. So now, here comes Candace Owens, ready to stoke the fire. Posting a video of her podcast on X, Owens boldly declared:

Owens doubled down, saying:

Now, there’s confidence… or is it just desperation for a headline?
But note that these claims have naturally come without a shred of verifiable evidence.
Invasion of privacy: The harmful impact of misinformation on the Macron family
What’s particularly insidious about this kind of theory is its undercurrent of transphobia. It’s not just about discrediting the Macron family—it’s about casting a shadow over transgender people, implying that there’s something wrong about transitioning. And this isn’t the first time such accusations have flown.
This phenomenon, known as “transvestigation”, targets public figures—from Madonna to Melania Trump—and tries to expose them as being secretly transgender, with little more than suspicious-looking photos or claims based on absolutely nothing (via Euro News).
As GLAAD, the US-based LGBTQ+ organization, puts it:
The practice maliciously targets cisgender public figures — from Madonna to Melania Trump to Olympic boxer Imane Khelif to Kyle Rittenhouse — and then ‘investigates’ them offering fake pseudo-scientific ‘evidence’ that they are transgender, with the underlying bigoted and ignorant implication that being a transgender person is a bad thing.
At the end of the day, the Macron family’s private lives have been put under a microscope for far too long. France President Emmanuel Macron himself has addressed the claims, labeling them as “false information” and calling out the harm that such fabrications can cause (via Yahoo).
The worst thing is the false information and fabricated scenarios. People eventually believe them and disturb you, even in your intimacy.
And in a world that’s already fraught with misinformation, we could all use a little more caution before jumping to conclusions. Also, while some may eat it up for the drama, those with a critical eye can see right through it.
