On December 17, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts (UBCFA) will host a special holiday concert featuring three-time Grammy winner Samara Joy. This joyful celebration, titled “A Joyful Holiday,” promises an enchanting evening of gospel-inspired holiday favorites.
At just 25, Samara Joy has taken the jazz world by storm. Born and raised in the Bronx, she hails from a musical family. Her paternal grandparents, Elder Goldwire and Ruth McLendon, founded the renowned Philadelphia gospel group, The Savettes. Her father, Antonio, is a vocalist and bass player who has toured with gospel legend Andrae Couch.
Samara will share the stage with her musical family, the McLendons, as part of a month-long US tour. This rare performance will showcase her soulful voice, accompanied by Shedrick Mitchell on piano, Eric Wheeler on bass, and Charles Haynes on drums.
Tickets, priced at $44, $49, and $79, are selling quickly. To secure your spot, visit ubcfa.org, Ticketmaster, or purchase in person at the UBCFA Ticket Office (Tuesday to Friday, noon-6 p.m.). For more information, call 716-645-2787 or email ubcfatickets@buffalo.edu.
