Lil Durk, a prominent Chicago-based rapper, has been taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Florida on murder-for-hire charges.
The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks, was booked into the Broward County Jail without bail on Thursday night.
According to federal authorities, Durk’s arrest is linked to the August 2022 shooting in Los Angeles that killed rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin. Five members of the OTF crew, affiliated with Durk, were also charged in the federal indictment with conspiracy to commit murder for hire.
The alleged crime is believed to be retaliation for the 2020 fatal shooting of rapper King Von in Atlanta. King Von, whose real name was Dayvon Bennett, was killed by Lul Timm, an associate of Quando Rondo, during an altercation.
Timm was initially charged with King Von’s murder but had the case dismissed.
Lil Durk’s arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation. Further details on his involvement are yet to be released.
