Snoop Dogg announces he’s quitting smoking

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, shared on social media that he’s quitting smoking, without specifying if it’s marijuana. Snoop Dogg is known for his association with marijuana, reflected in his businesses and media presence.

“After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time,” Snoop Dogg posted on Instagram. “I’m giving up smoke,”

The 50-year-old marijuana activist, known for smoking joints on the red carpet, announced he’s quitting smoking, mentioning a reduction earlier due to becoming a grandfather. Snoop Dogg, with business ties to cannabis, once claimed to have a personal blunt roller and smoked 81 joints daily.

He expressed lifestyle changes as a grandfather and concerns about health and well-being. New research suggests marijuana usage might have a more significant negative impact on cognitive function than previously believed.

“Being a grandfather has changed me in multiple ways,” he told the Daily Mail in March.

“The main way is being concerned with how I live, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with, because I want to see my grandkids grow old. The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what am I intaking. Am I doing extra-curricular or am I just doing what I’m supposed to be doing?”

For heavy users, marijuana smoke raises concerns about lung disease and cancer because it contains similar chemicals to tobacco smoke and irritates the lungs.
