Despite being married since 1997, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, a well-known Hollywood couple, have been traveling separate paths since 2016. While promoting her new book, “Worthy,” Pinkett Smith recently made a number of personal confessions, one of which is the admission that she and Will Smith have essentially been leading different lives for the past seven years.

Will Smith replied to Pinkett Smith’s frank comments in a recent New York Times interview published this Saturday, saying that the memoir was a significant wake-up call for him.

“had lived a life more on the edge than he’d realized, and she is more resilient, clever and compassionate than he’d understood.”

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” Smith wrote in an email to The New York Times.

The truth about Pinkett Smith and Smith’s relationship was revealed in her most recent memoir, in which she revealed that they had been living apart for the previous seven years. She also disclosed that Chris Rock had asked her out in 2016, mistakingly thinking that she and Smith were already divorced, which was untrue.

She mentioned on “Today” that she was surprised by Smith’s response to the joke about her that led to Smith slapping Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards. She explained that they hadn’t used the phrase “husband and wife” in a while.
