One of the co-writers of the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film is surprised Disney approved of it because the storyline is so unusually odd.

The Last Of Us co-creator Craig Mazin, well-known for his work on the lauded HBO miniseries Chernobyl, freely expressed his surprise in an interview with variety

The forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie was written by Mazin and Ted Elliott, who previously collaborated on the first four films in the franchise with Terry Rossio.

‘We pitched it and thought there’s no way they’re buying it, it’s too weird. And they did!’

‘And then he wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone’s waiting around,’

In the first five films of the series, Johnny Depp played Jack Sparrow, a beloved character by viewers all over the world.

However, Johnny’s Hollywood career has suffered recently as a result of his widely reported court disputes with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Following the breakdown of their 15-month marriage, the ex-couple was involved in a contentious series of litigation featuring a flurry of allegations of mutual violence.

Johnny made a triumphant return to the entertainment sector after winning a defamation case against Amber last year. At the Cannes Film Festival in May, he premiered his most recent movie, “Jeanne du Barry,” to a standing ovation.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer was hesitant to commit to Johnny’s probable return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in May of the previous year, shortly before Johnny’s court victory.
