Aaron Carter’s Twin Sister Reflects on Losing Him.
Angel, the twin sister of Aaron Carter, has shared her thoughts on the experience of losing her 34-year-old brother. Following Aaron’s tragic passing, Angel took the responsibility of laying his ashes to rest.
The young pop star had been discovered deceased in his California residence’s bathtub on November 5, 2022. In a conversation with PEOPLE magazine, Angel candidly discussed the heart-wrenching ordeal.
“To lose a twin, it’s an out-of-body experience. He’s a part of me. And it was like when he died, I had this sense of, ‘I’ve got to get him in my house. I’ve got to bring him home and protect him’,” she said.
“For a few months after he died, it was my last way to protect him. I don’t want anybody to do anything weird with him,” she continued.
“I can’t trust that anybody else is not going to exploit him. So at that time, that was my last act of love.”

Angel’s statements about her commitment to “protecting” Aaron even after his passing coincide with her revelation during another interview with PEOPLE. In this interview, she disclosed that she had not communicated with her mother, Jane Carter, since the latter released graphic images depicting Aaron’s death scene.
Jane’s reasoning for releasing these images was rooted in her suspicion of foul play in Aaron’s demise. The unsettling photos, unveiled in March of the current year, depicted unsavory conditions, including feces on the floor and discolored water in the bathtub.
Subsequently, in April of this year, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner officially classified Aaron’s death as accidental. The determination attributed the cause to drowning due to inhalation of difluoroethane and the presence of alprazolam (marketed as Xanax) in his system.
Surviving Aaron are his sister Angel, his son Prince, and his elder brother, who is also a member of the Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter.
During the interview with PEOPLE, Angel revealed that her parents had battled alcohol abuse, resulting in a detrimental family dynamic. She emphasized that the situation escalated even further when Nick and Aaron rose to fame during the late 1990s.
