New Evidence, Eyewitnesses in Jonathan Majors Assault Case Appear to Tell a Different Story

Fresh evidence has emerged challenging the previously held beliefs surrounding the assault case involving Jonathan Majors, renowned for his role in Marvel productions. Merely a day after Majors made a court appearance to secure an August 3 trial date, new information has come to light.

According to reports, Majors’ legal representative, Priya Chaudhry, has submitted a compelling array of evidence that includes eyewitness interviews, phone records, credit-card statements, as well as extensive surveillance footage and police body-camera videos.

Chaudhry firmly asserts that this evidence unequivocally establishes her client’s innocence, as disclosed to Insider. With this new evidence in hand, she hopes that the misdemeanor assault charges will be dropped, but in the event they are not, both Chaudhry and the Ant-Man star are fully prepared to proceed with the trial.

Evidence Breakdown: Eyewitness Testimonies

According to the evidence presented by Chaudhry, there are several witnesses who can provide testimony supporting Jonathan Majors’ innocence in the alleged assault on his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. These witnesses include:

1. The driver of the car that transported Majors and Jabbari from a Brooklyn bar on the night of the incident. The driver is prepared to testify that he never witnessed Majors engaging in any physical or verbal aggression towards Jabbari. Instead, he asserts that Jabbari pulled on Majors’ coat as he attempted to distance himself from her.
2. A group of women who were present during the altercation and recognized Jonathan Majors, the star of Creed III. They approached him, hugged him, and even took a selfie with him amidst the commotion.
3. The bartender at Loosie’s Night Nightclub, located at the Moxy Hotel in Manhattan, who vividly remembers Jabbari’s British accent. The bartender is willing to testify that Jabbari seemed to be enjoying herself and displayed no signs of a bleeding ear or bruised finger. It is worth noting that Jabbari, Majors, and three other individuals who witnessed the altercation later visited Loosie’s that same evening. Surveillance footage from different cameras in the venue shows Jabbari using her allegedly injured right hand to perform various tasks, such as handling her wallet, using her cell phone, holding a menu, clinking Champagne glasses with friends, writing and delivering a note to the DJ, and even making a celebratory gesture on the dance floor.
4. The building’s handyman, who accompanied Majors when he returned to their shared triplex penthouse hours later to unlock a walk-in closet door. It was in this closet that Jabbari was purportedly discovered, partially unclothed and unconscious on the floor.
5. An unidentified witness who was on the phone with Majors as he arrived back at his penthouse after spending the night at a hotel. This witness can corroborate Majors’ account of discovering Jabbari in his closet.

These witnesses, as outlined by Chaudhry’s evidence, provide a counter-narrative to the allegations and further support Majors’ claim of innocence.

Surveillance Footage

Chaudhry contends that various surveillance footage supports Jonathan Majors’ defense. The footage includes recordings from the street corner where Majors was purportedly involved in the altercation, as well as footage from Loosie’s Nightclub, their shared penthouse, and the penthouse elevator. According to Chaudhry, these recordings suggest that Grace Jabbari, Majors’ ex-girlfriend, was the alleged aggressor during the incident. Furthermore, the footage reportedly fails to reveal any visible signs of injury to Jabbari’s hand or ear before she returned to their penthouse.

Chaudhry argues that instead of being assaulted, Jabbari may have experienced a fall while alone in Majors’ penthouse apartment after consuming alcohol and taking sleeping pills. These assertions are based on the analysis of the available surveillance footage.

NYPD body-worn camera video turned over to Chaudhry by prosecutors shows a disoriented-seeming Jabbari telling cops and paramedics that she had drank to the point of throwing up in the bed and had taken several sleeping “tablets,” the defense lawyer said in the letter. Jabbari had no idea why her finger was bruised and her ear was bloody, Chaudhry said in the letter, instead telling first responders “I don’t know” 19 times.

“She also asks, ‘What happened to my finger?’ to one of the cops when she was alone with him,” Chaudhry told Insider, saying that the police body-camera footage showed Jabbari looking down at her hand as if discovering the injury for the first time. Chaudhry said in the letter that Jabbari also told the officers “that she started a fight in the car because she saw a text from another girl, wanted to see his phone, and tried to grab his phone.”

“But then the cops keep asking her if he hit her, punched her,” Chaudhry told Insider. At one point in the body-camera footage, the cop who would end up swearing out the original assault complaint can be seen on the video touching his own throat several times while questioning what Majors “did,” as if coaching her, Chaudhry alleges in the letter. But the police videos do not show any visible injury to Jabbari’s neck, the lawyer said.

Credit Card Statements

According to the evidence presented by Chaudhry, Grace Jabbari reportedly made charges on Jonathan Majors’ credit card while they were at Loosies. These charges included rounds of shots and an expensive $800 bottle of champagne. Additionally, Chaudhry’s evidence suggests that Jabbari encountered a breakup text from Majors, known for his involvement with Magazine Dreams. In response to this text, Jabbari allegedly charged a taxi ride back to their shared triplex penthouse, as confirmed by surveillance footage indicating her arrival at 3:23 a.m.

Insider also highlights that Majors allegedly turned off his phone after sending the breakup text. Subsequently, Jabbari supposedly made 32 phone calls to Majors and sent multiple text messages, accusing him of being unfaithful.

Based on the evidence provided, Chaudhry seeks to present a sequence of events that may shed light on Jabbari’s actions and potential motives following the breakup text.

April 8 letter

In a letter dated April 8, submitted to Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Rachel S. Pauley, Chaudhry asserted that Grace Jabbari, despite her previous claims, exhibited no injuries to her right hand or ear.

Chaudhry highlighted various instances throughout the night following the alleged assault where Jabbari reportedly used her hand without any apparent issues.

Furthermore, Chaudhry mentioned her suspicion that medical records would reveal no evidence of injury to Jabbari’s neck. As a result, the complaint had removed the allegation that Majors had placed his hand on Jabbari’s neck, resulting in bruising and significant pain, and the strangulation charge had been dropped.

Insider also reported that Chaudhry maintained her previous allegation of racism on the part of the officers involved. She pointed to body camera footage, which supposedly captured the officers’ “impressed faces” and their comments regarding the triplex penthouse.

Chaudhry also claimed that one officer was seen on camera allegedly coaching Jabbari in an attempt to make her claim that Majors had strangled her. She further accused the officers of being unwilling to investigate Majors’ claims that he had actually been assaulted.

As previously reported by The Root, following these allegations, Majors faced professional consequences. He was dropped by both his management and PR team, and his involvement in ad campaigns with the U.S. Army and MLB’s Texas Rangers was terminated.

Moreover, he lost roles in several upcoming movies, including an Otis Redding biopic and the adaptation of Walter Mosley’s novel, The Man In My Basement. Notably, Majors has not been dropped by Marvel Studios, and it remains uncertain whether he will be replaced in his role as Kang the Conqueror, Marvel’s newest supervillain. Additionally, Variety has reported that Majors faces further allegations of abuse from multiple women.

Regarding Majors’ uncertain career status, Chaudhry expressed that he is devastated and watches his professional future hang in the balance. He is eager for the trial to commence without delay.
